    Excellent headlamp for camping

Posted by LoneCrowAdventures on 21st Aug 2019

I purchased the Black Diamond Iota headlamp earlier this season. I've been extremely happy with its performance. I like that it features the USB charge option seeing as I always have a portable batter pack to charge my phone and GPS. It's nice not to have to carry extra batteries. It is very bright and stays secure on my head with a variety of headwear. Very comfortable to wear. The headlamp operates for a long time on a single charge (4hrs on max power) and I've never run out of juice during my travels.

    Great UL headlamp

Although it only puts out 150 lumens, I find that it is plenty for my needs. I love the fact that one can dim it as much as needed. I also like the "tap" feature where I can quickly change from my low setting while eating in the dark to maybe 60% brightness to see what the noise in the bushes is (I hate when a grizzly interrupts my dinner). It can be programmed to come on at the same brightness as when you last turned it off. I turn it off at the lowest setting, and when I turn it on again, I will set the brightness where I need it. I have modified it to be attached to the back of a ball cap, or my pack's sternum strap for night hiking, eliminating the need for the included strap. This drops the weight to 1.4 oz., which is extremely light. I wanted a backup light, and Karst was the only vendor that had the color I wanted. Quick service too.
