The Shunt is Petzl's mechanical version of a Prusik hitch or self-locking knot. It
locks onto either a single rope or double ropes of the same diameter and holds
well on icy and muddy ropes. It's ideal for backing up a descent with a Figure "8"
or other device. The SHUNT frame must be held to descend. It locks off if the
hand is removed. Individually tested to 5kN. For double ropes from 8mm to
11mm and single ropes 10mm to 11mm. Weight 188 grams. Made
in France. CE - UIAA
